Bookings & studio policy

Terms & conditions

Last updated: 4 October 2026

These terms apply to every tattoo and piercing at London Body & Ink, whether you book on our website, by WhatsApp or by phone, or walk in. Please read them before your appointment.

1Who we are

London Body & Ink is the trading name of London Piercing (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2022/690601/07, at Shop LL056, Tyger Valley Shopping Centre, Cnr Bill Bezuidenhout Ave & Willie Van Schoor Dr, Bellville Park, Cape Town 7530, Western Cape. In these terms, “we” and “us” means the studio and our artists and piercers, and “you” means the client.

2Booking an appointment

You can request an appointment on our website or by WhatsApp on 083 937 7801. A request is not a booking. Your appointment is confirmed once we confirm it to you and, for a tattoo session, once your deposit is paid (see section 4).

  • Online requests need at least 24 hours’ notice and can be made up to 14 days ahead. For dates further out, message us on WhatsApp.
  • If we haven’t confirmed a request within 48 hours, it lapses and the time is released. You’re welcome to request again.
  • Please give us correct contact details and reply to our messages. We use them to confirm, change or remind you about your appointment.

Walk-ins are welcome when an artist or piercer is free, but a booked client always comes first.

3Consultations and quotes

Every tattoo starts with a free 15-minute consultation with your artist. You’ll talk through your idea, placement and size, and see a sketch of your design. There is no design fee, and changes to the sketch are free.

At the consultation your artist confirms the size of the piece and gives you a quote. Large pieces that need more than one sitting are quoted per session. We don’t publish tattoo prices on the website, apart from flash drops, because every piece is priced for you. A quote is valid for 1 month. If you change the design or size after accepting it, your artist will give you a new quote.

Piercings don’t need a consultation. Your piercer will check the placement and your anatomy before starting.

4Deposits

Tattoo sessions are secured with a deposit of 50% of the quote.

  • If you book online or by WhatsApp, pay your deposit by EFT within 24 hours of us confirming your booking, and send us your proof of payment. If it isn’t paid in time, the booking lapses and the time is released.
  • If you book in the studio, you can pay your deposit by cash, card or EFT.
  • For large pieces quoted per session, a deposit is paid for each session.
  • Your deposit comes off the price of the session it was paid for.
  • A deposit only applies to the tattoo in the quote you accepted. It can’t be moved to a different tattoo or to someone else.
  • Piercings and flash pieces don’t need a deposit.
  • If you book a consultation and tattoo on the same day, there is no deposit. You pay the full price on the day.

Our artists set their days aside for your booking, so deposits are not refundable except as set out in sections 9, 11 and 17.

5Payment

We accept EFT, cash, card and PayJustNow. PayJustNow lets you pay in instalments, subject to PayJustNow’s own approval and policies. Ask our staff in the studio if you’d like to know how it works.

If you pay by EFT, cash or card, you pay the rest of the price at the end of each session. For example, if a session is quoted at R2,000 and you paid a R1,000 deposit, you pay the remaining R1,000 when the session is finished. If you use PayJustNow, you pay according to PayJustNow’s own policies.

6Designs and flash

Designs remain the copyright of the artist who drew them. We don’t hand over design files, and a design may not be taken to another studio to be tattooed.

Flash drops. Flash pieces are claimed on WhatsApp, first come, first served, at the price shown. A claim is held for 24 hours. To keep it, pay the full price within that time; flash doesn’t take a deposit. If it isn’t paid, the piece goes back on offer. Each flash piece is tattooed once only and then retired.

Placement mockups are examples only. How a tattoo finally looks depends on your anatomy, skin and the placement. Your artist has the final say on any change needed for the tattoo to heal and age well.

7Age and ID

Bring your ID book or smart ID card to every appointment. We won’t start without it. Visitors from outside South Africa can bring their passport instead.

  • Tattoos: from 18 on your own ID, or from 16 with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
  • Piercings: from 18 on your own ID, or from 6 with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.

If you’re under 18, your parent or legal guardian comes with you, brings their own ID and a certified copy of your birth certificate (certified within the last 3 months), and signs the consent form.

8Health, safety and what we tattoo

Every client completes our consent & indemnity form before their procedure. Please tell us honestly about any medical condition, medication, allergy, pregnancy or anything else that could affect your safety or healing.

We don’t tattoo the genitals or the inside of the mouth. We may also refuse or postpone a procedure if it would be unsafe or unlawful, including if:

  • you appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs;
  • the skin in the area is broken, sunburnt or irritated;
  • a medical condition makes it unsafe without your doctor’s approval.

The tattoos we do are chosen by our clients. A design doesn’t reflect the views or beliefs of the studio or of the artist who tattooed it. An artist may decline a design, and will rather work with you to find a design they can do.

If we postpone for a health or safety reason you couldn’t have known about, your deposit carries over to the new date.

9Moving or cancelling your appointment

Moving. You can move a booking to another time with the same artist or piercer up to 12 hours before it starts, using the manage link in your booking email or by WhatsApp. Your deposit carries over. You can move a booking twice; after that, message us on WhatsApp. If your booking is already confirmed, it stays in place until we confirm the new time, so you never lose your slot because a move didn’t work out.

Cancelling. You can cancel online up to 12 hours before your appointment, and by WhatsApp at any time.

  • More than 48 hours before: your deposit is refunded in full by EFT, or kept as credit for a new date if you prefer.
  • Less than 48 hours before: your deposit is kept as a cancellation charge, because your artist can’t fill that time at such short notice.

We won’t charge any cancellation fee if you can’t attend because of the death or hospitalisation of the person the booking was for, as section 17 of the Consumer Protection Act requires.

10Late arrival and no-shows

If you’re running late, let us know. If you haven’t let us know and arrive more than 30 minutes after your appointment time, we treat it as a no-show.

If you don’t arrive, or are treated as a no-show, your deposit is kept.

11If we need to reschedule

If we have to move your appointment, for example because your artist is ill, we’ll contact you as soon as we can and there is no charge. Your deposit carries over to the new date, or we refund it in full if the new date doesn’t suit you.

12Touch-ups

Some tattoos need a small touch-up once healed. You get one free touch-up within 3 months of your appointment, unless your artist gives you a different period.

A free touch-up doesn’t cover changes or additions to the design, or fading and damage caused by sun exposure, picking or scratching, injury, or not following your aftercare instructions. Your artist decides whether a touch-up is free.

13Piercing jewellery

All basic piercings include basic jewellery. We only pierce with jewellery from our studio, because we can’t confirm that jewellery brought in from elsewhere is clean and safe.

Jewellery change service. If you already have a piercing, we can change your jewellery for you. You may bring your own jewellery for this, because we aren’t piercing you. Resizing jewellery is quoted per piece.

For hygiene reasons, jewellery that has been worn or taken out of its sealed packaging can’t be returned or exchanged. Faulty jewellery is covered by your rights under the Consumer Protection Act.

14Aftercare

You’ll get aftercare instructions after every tattoo and piercing, and they’re on our aftercare page. How it heals depends a lot on how you look after it, and we can’t be responsible for problems caused by not following those instructions. If you’re worried about healing, contact us, and see a doctor if you notice signs of infection.

15Bringing someone with you

On request, up to two people may watch your tattoo or piercing. Your artist or piercer may decline, for example when space or hygiene makes it impractical.

16Photos

We’d love to photograph your finished work, but we only share photos of it with your permission, which you can give on the consent form. You can ask us to take a photo down at any time. Our privacy notice explains how we handle your information.

17Refunds and your rights

Because a tattoo or piercing can’t be returned, we don’t refund a procedure once it has been done. If you’re unhappy with your work, please talk to us first and we’ll do our best to put it right.

Refund and cancellation requests must be made in writing, by WhatsApp or email to tyger@londonbodyandink.co.za. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or any other South African law.

18Changes to these terms and contact

We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page on the day you book applies to that booking. For questions about bookings or these terms, contact us by WhatsApp on 083 937 7801 or email tyger@londonbodyandink.co.za.
